Last week I wrote about my impressions being back in our hometown of Brisbane in Australia for the first time in over a year. While life in Europe has been kind to us, the progress of the startup ecosystem has been amazing. Even the state government has impressed with the their Advance Queensland programs.
Part of this program was the Advance Queensland Startup Summit from the 27th to 29th of April. A boost to the innovation ecosystem in the region.
The summit concluded with a pitch competition and an after-party, in which Corilla was invited to participate.
To be honest, I wasn't fully aware of this being a competition, and I threw together some slides with the intention of summing up the story of our time in Europe as part of the NUMA Paris accelerator program. Basically in a narraribe format versus the NUMA/Techstars format that I've pitched countless times now.
The event itself was great, the pitches entertaining, and Corilla came away with the win.
What this means is that we've got tickets to head over to the New York edition of TechCrunch Disrupt 2016. And no shortage of cream cheese bagels in the process (it's the little things, right?).
PS: And while we're there, we might just be representing some other great Queensland startup initiatives in the process...
